Position Overview:
We are looking for a proactive, professional, and experienced Project Manager to join our team and contribute to our expanding portfolio of projects. The ideal candidate must be well organised and detailed-oriented with at least ten (10) years of experience working in the building and construction industry and applicable experience in the design and/or construction of steel structures. Reporting to our Operations Manager, the candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that our projects are executed on time, within scope, in compliance with industry production and safety standards, and to the satisfaction of our clients.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Preparing tenders, budgets, estimates, and quotations for new project opportunities.
  • Developing comprehensive project plans, inclusive of estimates, budgets, timelines, and resource allocations for steel fabrication and on-site construction projects.
  • Developing effective relationships, communicating, and collaborating with clients, architects, engineers, suppliers, and other team members on project requirements, specifications, timelines, deliverables, risks, solutions, and payments.
  • Negotiating agreements with suppliers and sub-contractors for quality, timely, and cost effective materials and services.
  • Discussing and negotiating proposals with existing and prospective clients.
  • Coordinating with our in-house fabrication and construction teams to ensure timely production, delivery, and installation of structural steel components and the accuracy, completeness, and practicality of all project plans and details. This will include the review and approval of design drawings, change orders, instructions, and agreements.
  • Leading project kick-off and progress meetings.
  • Supervising on-site construction activities, including the delivery, storage, handling, and installation of fabricated steel components and structures.
  • Tracking and reporting on the progress of all projects, inclusive of potential issues and risks, adjusting plans and activities as required to ensure that deadlines, deliverables, and quality outcomes are maintained.
  • Ensuring we are up-to date with invoicing and payments.
  • Compiling and maintaining detailed records of all project related dates, drawings, files, documentation, and correspondence (both written and verbal).
  • Ensuring team, partner, and supplier compliance with governing health and safety policies, project requirements, statutory laws, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Responding to inquiries and both troubleshooting project-related issues and providing solutions in a timely and satisfactory manner.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management.
  • Post Graduate degree in project management, engineering, construction, or related field will be an asset, though not necessary.
  • Ten (10) years project management experience in the building and construction industry, with a focus on steel fabrication and erection projects.
  • Experience in preparing project plans, estimates, quotations, and proposals.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural and structural design drawings for material take-offs, estimation, and shop drawing preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel, steel fabrication and erection processes, industry codes, safety and quality standards, and equipment.
  • Excellent leadership, time management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in project management and office productivity software, such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks, or Tekla Structures.
  • Basic finance skills, including an understanding of revenue, expenses, income, margins, and budgets.
  • Business development, sales, and customer service experience.
  • A proactive self-starter with the ability to dive in, figure things out, work well under pressure, and act with integrity and honesty at all times.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to continuous personal improvement and professional development.
  • Valid driver’s licence, passport, and ability to travel regionally to project sites.

 

What We Are Offering:

  • Monthly salary between $14,000 and $18,000. Final compensation package will be commensurate with the candidate’s particular combination of skills, experience, and competences.

Additional Details You Should Know:

  • This is a full time, in-person, position that requires a combination of office work and periodic visits to multiple construction sites, as well as our in-house fabrication facility.
  • Standard working week from Monday to Friday. May require occasional evening and weekend work, as required, to meet project and delivery deadlines.
